Mozart’s “Prague Symphony”

Widely known as the “Prague Symphony,” for the city in which it premiered in 1787, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 is one of the Classical period composer’s most popular works. Ice Carving Show

This weekend, dozens of sculptures will line the streets and daily live carving demonstrations will take place in Downtown Mount Clemens. The 16th annual Ice Carving Show will feature a theme: gratitude toward first responders and frontline and essential workers. Leni Sinclair: Motor City Underground

As an active member of Detroit’s 1960’s counterculture, photographer and political activist Leni Sinclair documented the area’s historic social justice movements from the inside. Her now-iconic works depict various underground scenes, from everyday life in Detroit’s Black community to the crusades of the White Panthers, an anti-racist, ally organization that Sinclair co-founded in 1968. I Love My Blackness & Yours

In honor of Black History Month, the Detroit Institute of Arts is partnering with youth social justice project Wee the People to remember two Black photographers of the 20th century. I Love My Blackness & Yours is a virtual event that aims to teach children the stories of Gordon Parks and James Van Der Zee, including how the accomplished photographers celebrated Blackness through their art. Crossroads Ceili

The Ark’s popular Crossroads Ceili was named after the traditional Celtic céilí – a jovial social gathering complete with folk music, singing, dancing, and storytelling. The show has now remained true to its name for 25 years, offering viewers energetic performances of traditional Irish song and dance.
