Owners Derrick A. Collins, Justin Riopelle, and Josh Guitar will be bringing a brewpub/restaurant concept to a region of Detroit that has often been overlooked during the revitalization process.

Rosedale Beer & Bistro is a venture by chef Collins, brewmaster Riopelle, and restaurateur Guitar, who is also a resident in North Rosedale Park. They will tie front and back of the house together with a unique menu, handcrafted beer, a full bar, and a full-service dining approach that has been scarce in Northwest Detroit for years.

Collins, a native Detroiter, is proud to put his name on the growing list of businesses with African-American ownership interests.

Hoping to open before the new year, the trio of food and beer professionals has to hold off a little while longer before they can begin the necessary construction and remodeling.

鈥淎s of now, we are awaiting permits, so there isn鈥檛 anything to show aside from a building that needs some love,鈥 says Riopelle. 鈥淲e are still waiting on our logo.鈥

The team 鈥斕齱ho spent time working together at the Detroit Beer Co. 鈥斕齛re leaning on their individual expertise to create a successful dining and drinking experience.

Winning a grant from the Motor City Match program and being in the top 10 candidates for a Hatch Detroit grant has helped generate more excitement as the partners start to make their dream a reality.

Local economic development organizations have whole-heartedly supported the cause, and the Detroit Development Fund is acting as a lending partner for the project.

Once the legalities are set, the team plans on spending many late nights working to open the doors and start serving the community.
