Where to go in Detroit for an extraordinary culinary feast accompanied by Michigan wines? We asked Shannon and Cortney Casey, founders of the Michigan By The Bottle website and residents of Macomb County, for their favorite destination. The Rattlesnake Club is at the top of their list.

鈥淭he food is excellent and elegant, and we enjoy the somewhat unusual menu format: set prices by the number of courses (rather than by the) entr茅e and appetizer,鈥 says Cortney. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a nice array of meats and fish offered, and the vegetables and accents incorporated seem 鈥 unique and exotic without being over the top.鈥

Currently, the wine menu includes:

  • L. Mawby Blanc de Blanc
  • Chateau Grand Traverse Whole Cluster Riesling and Pinot Grigio
  • Left Foot Charley Dry Riesling
  • Sandhill Crane Vineyards 鈥淪ur Lie鈥 Chardonnay
  • Shady Lane 鈥淏lue Franc鈥 Lemberger

Alexandria Franz, marketing director for the Rattlesnake Club, adds that L. Mawby鈥檚 鈥淒etroit鈥 sparkling wine is available for weddings and other special events. Fenn Valley鈥檚 remarkable 42 Ice Wine will be available on the dessert wine list soon, and more Michigan wines will be added with oversight by Master Sommelier Claudia Tyagi, an avid Michigan wine enthusiast.

On another note, Shannon and Cortney are creators of a Michigan wine application, also called Michigan By the Bottle, available on iTunes for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The handy app is great for exploring Michigan wineries. For more details, visit .
