New Order Coffee Opens in Midtown

2068

After months of anticipation, New Order Coffee opened the doors of its flagship location in Midtown this month, sharing a building with the popular Grey Ghost restaurant.

鈥淥ur team can鈥檛 wait to grow with the city and add our own unique twist to the thriving Detroit coffee culture,鈥 says owner Elizabeth Rose in a release. 鈥淚t is simply unlike anything the city has yet seen.鈥

The cafe鈥檚 menu is highlighted by individually brewed cups of coffee, handcrafted espressos, cold and nitro brews, and specialty lattes. A rotating 鈥渂ean bar鈥 with tasting notes helps patrons pick their perfect brew, with beans roasted on site. Custom roasts are also available for takeaway beans.

Specials like the Crunch Berry Cereal Milk latte are already garnering a small cult following 鈥 and for good reason. The subtly-sweet drink perfectly combines high-quality espresso with the almost-buttery flavor of cereal milk, resulting in a craft coffee worthy of the hype.

Designed in partnership with the architectural firm et al. collaborative, the 2,000 square foot caf茅 seats 60 guests and features fun, modern decor. The interior is highlighted by aqua and orange accents, clean white counters, and huge geometric windows. The location also features a large heated patio, a six seat laptop bar, and a semi-private meeting space available to rent.

For the last year, the company has operated out of its 鈥渃offee lab鈥 in Ferndale, roasting small batches of specialty beans. Soon that location will be converted into a second caf茅. Additional openings are planned down the road

The Midtown location is currently open from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily. Hours are expected to expand in August.
