FOLK DETROIT /// Charming is the word for this Corktown storefront with an open kitchen dishing up an all-day brunch menu every day but Tuesday. It鈥檚 an offshoot of the Farmer鈥檚 Hand grocery and farmer鈥檚 market, also run by Detroiter Kiki Louya and Australian Rohani Foulkes, and it鈥檚 as homespun as it sounds. The menu focuses on prettily served nutritious dishes from salads, quiche, sandwiches, and meat pies to granola bowls, with local products relied on as much as possible 鈥 from bread to ice cream. LUMEN DETROIT /// A well-edited contemporary American menu and a Victor Saroki setting, makes the restaurant overlooking downtown鈥檚 Beacon Park one of the best of this year鈥檚 entrants onto the scene. The dining room offers a view from virtually every one of its stylishly set white marble-topped tables. The single-page menu, work of proprietors Bonnie and Norm LePage and executive chef Gabby Milton, is as distinctive as the understated听d茅cor. Appetizers such as freshly made pretzel, and chicken wings seasoned with sea salt, garlic, and onion are a prelude to such main courses as salmon dressed up with quinoa, tomato, asparagus, and chimichurri herb sauce and New York strip with b茅arnaise butter, all served by a well-trained staff. 1903 Grand River Ave., Detroit; 313-626-5005.
