Growing up in Dearborn, we went out to dinner as a family to a popular restaurant called Brown鈥檚 Fish and Chips. They were located on Ford Road, just west of Schaefer Road. Our parents always ordered the special fish and chip dinner, and it included coleslaw. They would order the same meal for my sister and me, only the child鈥檚 portion. What a great meal! I always looked forward to the day when I could order the adult portion.

When I began dating my wife in the early 1960s, I took her to the famous Brown鈥檚. Only by this time, they had moved to a larger location on Greenfield Road between Michigan Avenue and Ford Road. They were also known for their cherry pie with a huge scoop of fresh whipped cream.

Having moved from the area in the 1980s, my wife and I always wondered how long Brown鈥檚 remained in East Dearborn. (Editor鈥檚 note: From what we were able to determine, it was open until the late 1980s.)听鈥 Larry Allbritten,听Grand Blanc
