Chef Marcus Samuelsson To Take Over Detroit’s Central Kitchen and Bar

Fans of Marcus Samuelsson will get a chance to sample the celebrity chef鈥檚 food when he takes over Central Kitchen and Bar from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

鈥淚鈥檓 very excited for this next visit to Detroit,鈥 says the James Beard-award winning chef, who is coming to town to promote听The Red Rooster Cookbook: The Story of 香港六合彩图库资料 and Hustle in Harlem. 鈥淚 have a lot of friends in the area and over the years have gotten to know [Central co-owner] Dennis [Archer] and his family, they always take great care of me.鈥

When he鈥檚 in town, he鈥檚 鈥渁 fan of visiting places like Eastern Market, Katoi, and Selden Standard.鈥

Samuelsson is the owner of Red Rooster in Harlem, which he听envisioned more than a restaurant 鈥斕齣t would be the heart of his neighborhood and a gathering place that dished up听Southern black and cross-cultural food. His new cookbook pays homage to the neighborhood鈥檚 influences and flavors, and听Friday鈥檚 menu will feature dishes from The Red Rooster Cookbook such as beluga lentil soup, deviled eggs, and cornmeal-encrusted catfish. Two cocktails will complement the special menu: Savoy (vodka, grapes, agave, and fresh lemon juice) and a Bourbon Negroni (fig and pear-infused bourbon, Campari, sweet vermouth, and orange wedge).

When he鈥檚 not cooking, he鈥檒l also be mingling with diners and signing books.
