This season’s take on the suit isn’t reserved solely for your 9-5. From flared trousers at Victoria Beckham and Louis Vuitton to printed jackets at Dries Van Noten and Rag & Bone, a more creative spin on the two- or sometimes three-piece look dominated the spring 2020 women’s runway shows across all major fashion cities. And men got in on the trend as well with double-breasted tailoring making a comeback in a trim silhouette at Ralph Lauren and in a relaxed fit at Fendi.
Harking back to fashion that first made waves in the mid-’60s, this season’s suiting gravitates toward bold patterns; hues like mustard yellow, plum, teal, and hunter green; creative tailoring; and purposeful styling. Statement necklaces, sharp timepieces, cocktail rings, and shiny loafers punctuate the look. The addition — or the removal, depending on what activities you have in mind — of one, or two, or even three of these accessories easily takes this trend from the office to dinner to wherever the rest of the evening may take you.
