Has a star ever shone brighter or captured more imaginations than Marilyn Monroe? This August marks the 50th anniversary of Monroe鈥檚 untimely death, and from Michelle Williams鈥 Golden Globe-winning turn as the actress in My Week With Marilyn and NBC鈥檚 Broadway-does-Marilyn hit Smash to the not one but three new Marilyn books hitting shelves this summer, the silver screen icon is experiencing a cultural resurgence.

This month, the fashion world is joining the current Marilyn mania with the debut of a Marilyn Monroe exhibit at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence, Italy. Running June 2012 through January 2013, the exhibit will include more than 50 outfits worn by Monroe on film sets and in her personal life, along with 30 pairs of shoes specifically created for the actress by Salvatore Ferragamo. Going beyond fashion, the exhibit will also feature exclusive works of art, including portraits, film clips, and original documents.

If a trip to Florence isn鈥檛 in the cards, fashionistas can capture a dash of Monroe鈥檚 inimitable style right here in Detroit. To commemorate the launch of the exhibition, the house of Ferragamo is re-issuing select styles of the shoes created for Monroe. From demure grey suede pumps with scalloped edges to va-va-voom red Swarovski crystal encrusted stilettos, the shoes capture the many sides of the multidimensional Marilyn Monroe.
