She wrote the piece about the World War I 鈥渟pies among us.鈥 James is a Brighton-based freelance journalist and a former staffer for several large newspapers, including the Detroit Free Press and the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times), where she won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 1991. | |
 | Nicole听JareczNicole Jarecz is a fashion illustrator based in Detroit who worked on this month鈥檚 spring fashion story. For as long as she can remember, Jarecz was attracted to drawing and creating, but found that fashion illustration was her passion. She graduated from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit in 2010 with a BFA in illustration. The real adventure began when she moved to Paris, where she lived, worked, and drank wine from 2010-15. Jarecz creates feminine pieces made with graphite, watercolor, ink, charcoal, and colored pencil. She strives to find a balance between being playful and precise by combining traditional and digital methods. Her work has been in publications and magazines all over the world, as well as in private collections. | |

He is all about visually showcasing the world in the most objective way possible, while retaining a tinge of optimism and humor. Working primarily on location and with light that鈥檚 as natural as possible, Hagen showcased interesting people and stories, including the passionate video game community of Lagos, Nigeria, an ex-NFL lineman who is now in the business of making peanut brittle, the beauty of suburban banality in metro Detroit, and a man whose arm was lost in a hippopotamus attack near Victoria Falls. Hagen鈥檚 goal is to make people feel seen and heard by synthesizing their stories into honest photographs. |
