Two Michigan Towns Named Among the Best Halloween Destinations

We鈥檙e not home to Salem or Sleepy Hollow, but Michigan is now officially a prime destination for spooky season fun.

Romeo and Dearborn 鈥斕齧ore specifically, Greenfield Village 鈥 have been named two of the by travel website, .

The village of Romeo, a quaint little town in Macomb County, earned its spot on the list due to the much-anticipated, long-time community tradition, the Terror on Tillson Street.

This display, which is put on entirely by Tillson Street residents, features spook-tacular yard displays filled with creepy clowns, spooky spiders, carved jack o鈥檒anterns and other Halloween d茅cor that 鈥渞ival the work of Hollywood set designers,鈥 according to the Trips to Discover list.

Homeowners typically begin decorating in early October, but full displays are not usually complete until the week leading up to Halloween. The is free and open to the public for viewing.

Meanwhile, Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn also earned itself a top on the list thanks to their annual tradition, .

This event, which runs Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 6-30, 2022, transforms the historic village into a Halloween wonderland filled thousands of lit pumpkins and more than 50 costumed characters including the Grim Reaper, and some of your favorites from Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.

There鈥檚 even a haunting train ride through the village. Plus, a harvest market and fall treats, drinks, and craft beer.

General admission to Hallowe鈥檈n in Greenfield village runs $18.75-$25. Kids under 2 are free.

Other Halloween travel destinations on the Trips to Discover list include Estes, Colorado, which is home to the historic Stanley Hotel; 鈥淭he Halloween Capital of the World,鈥 Anoka, Minnesota; and of course, both Sleepy Hollow, New York and Salem, Massachusetts.
