The , an organization that uses art to educate about racism and antisemitism and inspire social change, has announced it will host an event that honors 鈥渢he moments that defined an era and celebrate the legacies of those who paved the way for social justice and change.鈥
A Celebration of Unity and Legacy, which Spill the Honey calls a 鈥渢estament to the enduring bonds and shared histories that have knitted the African-American and Jewish communities together,鈥 will take place at Detroit鈥檚 Atheneum Suites Hotel at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13, 2023.
The evening will feature an evening that includes a screening of the documentary, , along with performances and special guests.
Among the guests for the evening is Holocaust survivor Fred Ferber, who will be speaking at the event; Leila Steinberg, a recording artist, and the former manager of the late Tupac Shakur; and Grammy-nominated artist Mali Wilson, who will perform No More Silence, the Spill the Honey Anthem.
The work of late artist DeVon Cunningham will also be on display.
In addition, the event will honor Dr. Clarence B. Jones, a chairman of the Spill the Honey Foundation and Civil Rights leader who was a close confidant of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helped draft his iconic I Have A Dream speech.
The evening will conclude with a call to action and how guests can support the foundation鈥檚 mission and vision.
