The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center 鈥 a local art facility that offers more than 500 classes a year 鈥 is highlighting the work of its students in its annual juried show. This year鈥檚 exhibition, on display through March 3, features 185 works.

鈥淭丑别 BBAC Current Student Works Show is a wonderful, annual celebration of the talents and artistic achievements of our students and instructors,鈥 says Annie VanGelderen, president and CEO of BBAC, in a press release.听 鈥淚t鈥檚 always one of my favorite exhibits of the year, because we intend for visitors to听be inspired by what they see, and hopefully feel encouraged to start exploring their own artistic pursuits.听There is creativity in all of us!鈥

Featuring painting, drawing, mixed-media works, ceramics, and more, the show spans four galleries at BBAC. Ani Garabedian, the community arts coordinator at the Detroit Institute of Arts, juried the show. She named 25 works as honorees, including an acrylic painting by Marjie Benson of Oak Park, a clay work by Marlene Galeprin of Southfield, a watercolor painting by Rosemary Lee of Howell, and a mixed-media work by Lulu Zheng of Birmingham. The student artists who were recognized by Garabedian will be awarded cash prizes, tuition certificates, and gift cards for art supplies.

Gallery hours for the BBAC Current Student Works Show are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There is no cost for admission. BBAC, located at 1516 S. Cranbrook Road in Birmingham, asks that all visitors wear masks.
